William Arthur Stringer

Son of Edward and Mary Jane Stringer

Born about August 1898 at South Norwood, Surrey

The family moved to Kingston and he was educated at Tiffin School, Kingston, Surrey

Around 1914 they moved again to 80 Broad Street, Teddington where Edward Stringer ran a house furnishers business.

A tall boy of 6ft, he enlisted in late 1914 or early 1915 at Kensington, whilst living at Teddington.

Private (2132) with the London Regiment, 1st/13th (County of London) Kensington Battn.

Wounded in an engagement at Neuve Chapelle in March 1915

He was sent to a Base Hospital with a broken arm, pierced lung and head concussion

where he died of his wounds on 17th March 1915, aged 16 years.

Buried at Merville Communal Cemetery, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France (Grave II.G. 5)
