George Puddephatt

Son of Albert Puddephatt and Jane Puddephatt née Shirley of 21 Fulwell Road, Teddington

Born about October 1887 at Chesham, Buckinghamshire

Member of the Teddington Baptist Church Sunday School


Grocer and Provision Dealer of 4 High Street, West Molesey, Surrey

Enlisted as Private (G/12143) with the Royal Fusiliers (City of London Regiment), 2nd Battn.

Suffered severely from frostbite during the Dardanelles campaign and badly wounded in France.

Repatriated to St Bartholomew’s Hospital to recover before being sent back again to the Front.

Killed in action at Monchy-le-Preux during an attack at Greenland Copse on 24th April 1917.

Listed on the Arras Memorial, Departement du Pas-de-Calais, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France (Bay 3)
