Francis Benjamin Miles

Son of James Lincoln Miles and Annie Sophia Miles née Hart

of Stanley Garden Road, Teddington

Spouse of Doris Annie Miles née Blofeld of Feltham, Middlesex

Born 2nd June 1901 at Barnwood, Gloucestershire, England

Educated at Teddington Council School, Stanley Road, Teddington

Served as Royal Navy Able Seaman (P/J 71384) on H.M.S. Hood which sank during combat with

the German battleship Bismarck in the Denmark Strait on 24th May 1941 – resulting in the loss

of 1,415 lives – including Francis Benjamin Miles, aged 39 years.

Commemorated on the Portsmouth Naval Memorial

Commemorated at the Hood Chapel, St John’s Church, Boldre, Hampshire

Listed on the Stanley Road School WW2 War Memorial
