Roderick Sheridan MacKenzie

Son of Herbert Edward Mackenzie of Lower Circular Road, Calcutta, India

and Eva Helen Mackenzie née Schumacher of Pyrmont, Manor Road, Teddington

Born 10th January 1898 at Calcutta, Bengal, India

Was a student in Tasmania, Australia when he enlisted on 21st March 1916.

Corporal (884), 40th Batt., Australian Infantry, A.I.F.

Awarded Military Medal for gallantry in France on 24th June 1917

Killed during the Battle of Broodseinde, Flanders on 4th October 1917, aged 19

Buried 'in the vicinity of Tyne Cottage', Belgium (D17.A.52 Map Ref. Sheet 28)

Listed on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, West Flanders, Belgium
