Road: Elfin Grove

Property: "Elfin Lodge", Flats 1-8

On the West side of Elfin Grove is Elfin Lodge, formerly the Cottage Hospital, now divided into 8 flats. An amended plan exists in the Borough's records for the conversion of the "Old Cottage Hospital" into flats for Captain C.F. Hobday (ref. PLA/02771 dated 30 December 1932).

The Teddington Society's Survey described the building as:

"of yellow brick with a slate roof, 2-storeys high and the facade has classical elements, such as half pillars, scrolled beam ends under the roof, pediment above ground and first floor windows at either end of the building. Two half hexagonal windows in centre of building on ground floor only with slate half roofs above."

At the time of this Survey only one flat was occupied and the building was threatened with demolition. However, the building has survived, was extended at some time on either side, is now rendered, but otherwise is much the same in outline as the original Cottage Hospital. The flats consist of either one or two bedrooms and a two bedroom flat was sold in 2009 for £259,950.
