Walter ("Wally") James Brown

Son of Edwin and Harriett Mary Ann Brown

Born around 1886 at Acton but lived in the Richmond area most of his life.

Educated at Holy Trinity School at Richmond and became a pupil teacher there.

Attended Goldsmiths College and qualified as a teacher with Middlesex County Council.

In 1909 he joined Teddington Council School as Assistant Master. A popular teacher, he trained the football team which won the Schoolboy's Championship of Middlesex.

Enlisted in 1914 as Private (2623) with Middlesex Regiment, 8th Battn.(Territorial).

Killed in action during the storming of the trenches at Zonnebeke on 25th April 1915.

He was 29 years old and unmarried.
