Francis Harry Varney Wise
Son of Sidney Wise and Margaret Sarah Wise née Nash of Oxfordshire
Born 7th April 1895 at Bloxham, Oxfordshire
His home was at Olde House, Somerton, Oxfordshire but for several years he lived with an Aunt, Mrs Eleanor J. Rogers née Nash, at The Anglers Public House, Broom Road, Teddington.
He was engaged to be married to Miss Beatrice M. Hooper, the second daughter of Sub-Divisional Police Inspector Race Hooper of Kingston Police Station, Surrey.
He served with the Royal Naval Division and then as Lietenant (Temp) with the Royal Flying Corps, 20th Battle Squadron in France before returning to England.
On 13th January 1918 he took off during a training flight at Hendon Aerodrome but after gaining height, the aircraft fell to the ground killing both pilots.
