Born about September 1877 at Cruwys Morchard, Devon, England
Joined the British Army and Awarded the D.C.M. in South Africa in 1900
Married on 1st August 1904 at St Stephen’s Church, Battersea, Surrey
Employed as a telephone operator at the Strand, London
Enlisted with the King’s Royal Rifle Corps on 28th May 1915
Served as Company Sergeant Major with the King’s Royal Rifle Corps, 17th Battn., “C” Coy.
Killed in action 3rd September 1916, aged 39
Buried at Ancre British Cemetery, Beaumont-Hamel, Departement de la Somme, Picardie, France (Grave Reference VI.B.22)
