Before 1800 this was an ancient gravel track leading to Hampton. At the time of Enclosure in 1800 the road was designated as a 40ft wide public carriage way. It was some years before there was much building in the road.

Broad Street runs in a west/east direction from Hampton Road, Teddington to the High Street, Teddington. It is a road of shops and, except where mentioned, all the buildings are joined to one another.

Barclays Bank is named in Broad Street on the LBRuT website, but it is not mentioned there in the TeddSoc 1980 report, probably because the entrance is in The Causeway. We have included it in The Causeway (AM).
