"Elm Lodge": This Victorian house is situated immediately on the right hand side of the entrance to the National Physical Laboratory opposite Park Lane. It is a 2-storey building, double fronted brick built with ornamental rendered quoins, under slate roof and soffites with decorated brackets, sash windows with ornamental reveals and lintels at first floor and bay windows with similar ornamentation at ground floor. Steps lead to a projecting porch to the front door. There is a 2-storey side addtiion in similar style with brick service enclosures at the rear and a car park. The house was acquired by the National Physical Laboratory in July 1919 for £1,150 (From 'The Development of the NPL site at Teddington 1900-1970' by G.I. Robinson and H.J. Hadow) and enclosed within the establishment behind iron railings. It housed at one time a high frequency electrical furnace. The house has now been sold by the NPL and developed and sensitively renovated by Aquinna Homes and consists of a selection of 1, 2 and 3 bedroom flats. April 2015
