Midshipman from 30th January 1904 ; Sub-Lieut 30th March 1907 and Lieut 30th January 1909.
 
Married Dorothy Bentall, daughter of Edmund Ernest Bentall of Kingston, on 6th August 1912.
 
Signal Lieutenant to Commadore Reginald Tyrwhitt on the new light cruiser HMS Arethusa during the The Battle of Heligoland Bight and was killed by a shell which burst under the ship’s bridge on 28th August 1914, at the age of 27.
 
His body was brought ashore and he was buried near to his family home at Heybridge Cemetery, Essex (Plot D.60)

Eric Walter Poyntz Westmacott

Son of Edgell Edward Westmacott and Marian Charlotte Isabel Westmacott née Gunn-Munro of Udney Place, Cromwell Road, Teddington

Brother of Richard Innes Edgell Westmacott who was also killed on 25th January 1915.


Born 23rd June 1887 at Teddington and baptized at St Mary’s Church, Teddington on 31st July 1887.

Educated at J.Williams-White School for the Navy (Bognor) and H.M.S. Britannia
