Walter Francis Courtenay Chicheley Plowden
Son of George Augustus Chicheley Plowden and Spouse of Louisa Ethelgiva Rowena Plowden
Born 6th September 1852, the 5th son of George A.C. Plowden of the Bengal Civil Service. In 1873 he received a commission in the 43rd Light Infantry. Transferring subsequently to the 2nd Sikhs, Punjab Field Force. He served in the Afghan campaign (1878-1881) and later with the 5th Bengal Cavalry at Assam, where he raised an Assam Frontier Police Battalion. He retired from the army in 1907 with the rank of Liet. Colonel.
After the outset of WW1 he served as a military censor in the Central Telegraph Office in London and around 1915 he retired to 'Cloubrook in Kingston Road, Teddington.
He became ill around October 1918 and died of heart failure on 28th December 1918.
He was buried in Teddington Cemetery on 3rd January 1919, aged 66 Years.
