Major with the Royal Engineers (T.F.)

Commanding Officer of the Royal Engineers stationed at Gravesend and one of the earliest members of the R.E. For his services rendered during World War I he was mentioned in military despatches several times.

He died 28th September 1919 at Longfield, Broom Road, Teddington and was buried on 2nd October 1919 at Teddington Cemetery (Plot Fc) following a full military funeral. His oak coffin, covered with the Union Jack and bearing the accoutrements of the deceased officer, was borne to the cemetery on a gun carriage, attended by outriders of the R.A.S.C. An escort of 50 men of the East Surrey Regiment and six N.C.O.’s acted as bearers. There was then the firing of three volleys preceeded by the 'Last Post', sounded by East Surrey Buglers.

His grave was later maked with a Commonwealth War Graves Commission headstone with military insignia.
