Walter Henry Atkinson
Son of Charles Frederick and Charlotte A. Atkinson née Price of 18 Elmers Drive, Teddington
Born 19th August 1871 at Teddington, Middlesex
When young he joined the 8th Battn., Middlesex Regiment.
In 1889 he joined the Royal Marines and served for 12 years, including 4 years on the coast of West Africa.
He was placed on the reserve list and completed 21 years of service before he re-enlisted as
Private (CH/18828) in the Royal Marine Light Infantry in 1914.
Contracted septic pneumonia at Dunkirk and died at the Royal Marine Depot at Deal in Kent on 28th Sep 1914, aged 43.
Buried at Deal Cemetery, Dover, Kent (Plot 4, Grave 1719)
