• Come and celebrate with Richmond Theatre – for one day only!

As part of its celebrations to mark its 120th anniversary, the newly refurbished Richmond Theatre is opening its doors to the public this Sunday, September 15th, for an open day that will give everyone “unrivalled access” to Frank Matcham’s celebrated playhouse on Richmond Green. Events kick off at 10am and continue until 4pm.

Visitors will be able to meet the team, step foot on the famous stage, take part in creative activities, learn some technical skills, and generally experience the venue up close.
That same evening, there’ll be another free event for the community: in association with the Richmond Local History Society and the Richmond Society, 120 years of the theatre’s fascinating history will be explored. Among those taking part will be Brendan Riding, the theatre’s director; Mark Fox, chairman of the Frank Matcham Society; and Paul Velluet, chairman of the Richmond Local History Society – plus other special surprise guests.

• Throughout its 120th celebration year, Richmond Theatre is to donate 120 tickets a month to members of the community who may not otherwise be able to visit the theatre. Tickets will be distributed with the help of local charities and organisations, with the support of producers and promoters of the season’s shows.
